"HO" Gauge layout 3.5mm:ft “Silver Pine Creek”
PHOTOS COMING SOON
The layout represents a small town somewhere in the USA, in one of the states close to the Canadian Border. The layout features a double track mainline and a station which supports a county passenger service of a few Amtrak trains, along with one or two Steam hauled specials. The mainstay of the line, as in most of the US is freight, with trains hauling coal and lumber to cars and mixed freight. The layout also features a stretch of street running to a factory which can still be found in US cities. Running stock is mixed including most of the US rail road's along with Canadian National.Scenic detail is paramount (Movie fans - check out one of the mountain peaks on the back scene) on this layout, check out the alley ways and have a look through some of the windows of the town buildings. The layout name comes from one of our members name. This layout is still being worked on, still more to come.
"HO" Gauge layout 3.5mm:ft “Feather River”
The layout represents a typical branch line or pike in Western United States. These lines were the life blood of many a community carrying freight from the main cross country routes to the more remote towns scattered throughout the country. The Feather River route was chosen because the prototype was served by almost every large operator including Union Pacific, MissouriPacific, Southern Pacific, etc.Feather River station itself sits next to the river and sees a great variety of railroad traffic with the main outgoing loads being coal and lumber from further up the line. Such communities rely heavily on the railroad bringing in supplies for the stores and farms along its route, giving great scope to run a really mixed bag of trains.

This layout depicts a typical rural branch line leading to a small terminus station with platforms and sidings leading to a goods yard and a coal depot. The period is loosely based around the ending of steam but you may find the occasional diesel intruding. The line meanders through the countryside crossing over a river and under a lane. The passengers, if keen eyed may see a number of animals, some domesticated and some not. Following its first appearance at Cupar last year a new extension has been added and rumours abound that a further 12 feet are under development.

Steam motive power depots were around from the earliest days and have developed from the 1860’s. Today they are all long gone but we show a typical steam shed of the late 1950’s—early 60’s based on nowhere in particular but Dundee Tay Bridge was our guide. We are able to show our collection of steam locomotives in an environment where you would see most of them gathered. From the main line, locomotives enter the shed area where the fireboxes were cleared of ash, replenished with coal and water repairs carried out and cleaned to await their next turn of duty.

Various items of modern railway stock can been seen operating on Ken's layout including Class 37's, 47, 66's Voyagers, and even breakdown trains.
